Summary: ISWAN is an international organisation that promotes the welfare of seafarers on a worldwide basis. It is a UK registered charity formed by the merger of the International Committee on Seafarers' Welfare (ICSW) and the International Seafarers' Assistance Network (ISAN).

ISWAN works to facilitate welfare services internationally for seafarers in a number of ways including through a range of projects such as the development of National Welfare Boards, Port Welfare Committees, a Multilingual booklet for the medical assessment of seafarers, the production and dissemination of health information through its Seafarers Health Information Programme, Training on Board programmes and training of Ship Welfare Visitors outside of the United Kingdom.

ISWAN also provides direct services to seafarers and their families through SeafarerHelp (a 24 hour, 365 days per year, multilingual helpline/referral service) and runs the Seafarer Emergency Fund. ISWAN is a membership organisation with the International Chamber of Shipping, International Transport Workers' Federation and International Christian Maritime Association as key members.
