Summary: The Foundation owns 153 one, two and three bedroomed flats in Telferscot and Radbourne Roads in Balham, South London. 98 flats are currently made available to disabled ex-Service people (including the Merchant Marine) and their immediate dependants who are guests of the Foundation and pay a small maintenance charge for the accommodation. Guests normally have security of tenure for life as do their widows or widowers. All guests must be capable of independent living. The Foundation does not provide any care services. There is no warden on the Estate.
The remaining 55 flats are let on the open market on assured shorthold tenancies. Priority is given to the ex-Service community and all new lettings are reserved for ex-Service people for 12 weeks before being advertised more widely. Rental income and grants from other ex-Service charities are used to maintain the Estate to a high standard.
