Summary: The principal aim currently is the provision of financial assistance to suitable ships' ratings to enable them to obtain Certificates of Competence or other Officers' Certificates and Diplomas. The Trustee's aim is to provide 60 awards each year each worth up to £16,000. Awards contribute to the cost of college fees and accommodation, books, travel and living expenses (some arising from being off pay while at college).
Note/Restrictions: Provides help to seafarers of working age; they must be resident in the UK, and a Rating requiring training to qualify as a Merchant Navy Officer. Administered by Nautilus International.
